UK web developer Alex Tew has launched an online game inspired by the Iraqi journalist who threw a shoe at US President Bush.

The game dubbed ‘Sock and Awe’ allows players to attempt to hit Bush with a virtual shoe. As of 7am AEDT Bush had been hit by over 4, 400 000 shoes….

Meanwhile the journalist, Durgham Zaidi, that threw both his shoes at Bush on Monday whilst the outgoing President was making his final press appearance in Iraq has claimed the shoe throwing was in protest of the Bush Administration’s Iraqi Policy.

Zaidi, who was taken into custody after the Baghdad incident and according to reports from his brother has received a broken arm and ribs after being hit by over zealous security agents.

In Arab culture to show someone the soles of your shoe or throw a shoe at them is considered the ultimate insult.
