Two months ago, rumours have surfaced that YouTube might be working on offering music subscriptions by late 2013 but according to recent reports it seems that the company might release this service earlier than expected .

How early? Sources say that the service may go live as early as this week. The service will involve as many as 50 video channels and would allow single channel subscriptions for as low as $1.99 a month.

As with other rumours, YouTube has declined to confirm the launch date of the service and merely reiterates that it has nothing to announce as of the moment but that it has looked into creating a subscription platform that could bring more content to YouTube for users.

Other evidence of YouTube’s plans on paid subscriptions have been seen on the code of the YouTube app for Android which now contains two additional lines of code that referred to paid channel subscriptions which was intended to generate message on users’ screen telling them that they can only subscribe to a paid channel with the use of their computers.
