HTC today announced that the Desire Eye, its latest smartphone, is now available Australia for AUD$799, exclusively through JB HiFi. Both the Desire Eye's front and rear-facing cameras are 13 megapixel shooters, giving HTC's new device the highest resolution front-facing camera on a smartphone to date. Both cameras are identical and feature the same feature set: dual LED flash, autofocus and 1080p video recording.
While HTC has positioned the Desire Eye as photography-centric device, the handset has reasonably powerful hardware under its hood. The phone boasts a quad-core 2.3Ghz processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage and a full HD, 1080p screen. To top it off, the Desire Eye is HTC's first waterproof, IPX7 certified device: it's dust proof and water resistance for up to 30 minutes.
The Desire Eye can be ordered through JB HiFi's online store, and will be available in store from Thursday.
