Xiaomi Mi Band 2 fitness tracker has a 20 day battery life
Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has unveiled the Mi Band 2, an upgraded the fitness tracker that heavily undercuts the likes of Fitbit and Garmin. The Mi Band 2 will retail for roughly AUD$30 in Xiaomi's homeland, while still including features like a 20 day battery life, heart rate monitor (not continuous), and IP67 water-resistance. Other new functionality includes a small OLED display, and Apple Watch-like stand reminders.
Fitbit's comparable tracker, the Charge HR, retails for AUD$177 locally. However, the Charge HR's heart rate monitor is continuous, while the Mi Band 2's will only fire up during a workout. On the other hand, the Charge HR has no water resistance.
While Xiaomi products aren't always easy to find outside of China, GearBest and BangGood are both taking pre-orders for the band for approximately AUD$55. Pre-orders will start shipping mid-July.
