Microsoft is certainly paving the road for the launch of its newest gaming console – the Xbox One. Today, the company released a complimentary smartphone app for the console called SmartGlass across all three major mobile platforms. The app can be used to control several functions of the Xbox One very much like a remote and a controller.

The app can be used to control several functions of the Xbox One very much like a remote and a controller. It can also be used to watch DVR clips on the go, and browse Xbox Live and interact with friends.

The app also allow users to browse the Xbox Store, read and reply to messages and pin content to view on the console. The Xbox SmartGlass app is now available on Google Play, iTunes app store and the Windows Marketplace for devices running at least Android 4.0, iOS 6.0 and Windows Phone.
