Watchmen rakes it in at the box office

The screen adaptation of Alan Moore’s cult graphic novel, The Watchmen, has made its debut in the US and shot to number one at the box office.

The screen adaptation of Alan Moore’s cult graphic novel, The Watchmen, has made its debut in the US and shot to number one at the box office.

The film sold an estimated $US55.7 million ($86.27 million) in tickets in its first three days, becoming the biggest US opening of the year.

Watchmen
was directed by Zach Snyder of 300 fame, cost US 120 million to make and features a relatively unknown cast.

Watchmen is now showing at cinemas everywhere.
