Google’s Glass may be the most popular unreleased smart glass today, but it’s only available to developers and remains out of reach to the general public. But a not so popular Vuzix is offering an alternative.

Vuzix M100 Android-powered smart glasses is now available for (wait for it) $1000, making it the first commercially available smart glass in the world. The M100 is based on Android and is equipped with a single, miniature LCD, a 5MP camera and a 1GHz OMAP4430 processor with 1GB of RAM and 4GB of storage.

The camera is capable of recording 1080p videos and has direct on-board video capture processing for lag-free augmented reality. The smart glass also comes with a 600mAh battery, a large earpiece, a microSD card slot for expansion, a microphone and four control buttons.

The MX100 can connect to smartphones and other smart devices via Bluetooth v4.0 and Wi-Fi and is equipped with a number of sensors to detect ambient light, proximity and orientation.

According to Vuzix, the M100 can be used in a variety of industries including industrial, medical and retail. The company also added that the device will come with a number of pre-installed apps and is compatible with existing Android apps. For those who are planning to order the M100, Vuzix says orders should begin to arrive to buyers within two to four weeks.
