Vodafone revamps prepaid offering

Vodafone yesterday announced an overhaul of its prepaid offering with new $30, $40 and $50 caps. The telco is doubling data allowances on both its $30 and $40 offerings, providing customers with 1GB and 2GB of data respectively. The $50 cap includes 3GB. In addition, Vodafone is incentivising online recharges with bonus data; customers who recharge through the company's mobile apps or website will receive up to an additional 500MB.

“Prepaid data plans haven’t typically included as generous data inclusions as that of postpaid plans," said Vodafone’s General Manager of Prepaid, Mehul Dave. "Since the company welcomed prepaid customers onto its lightning-fast 4G network last year, 4G data usage has skyrocketed by 61 per cent on average."

Users on a $50 cap will have the added benefit of "infinite" standard calls to ten overseas locations: China, India, USA, UK, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong and South Korea. This offer is only valid until January 6, 2015.

Vodafone's new prepaid plans will be available for both new existing customers as of tomorrow.
