Vodafone gifts new customers free Spotify subscriptions

Vodafone Australia today announced that new customers connecting to any 12 or 24 month Vodafone Red plan will receive a free subscription to music-streaming service Spotify, worth AUD $11.99 per month.

Customers signing on to a $70 Red plan will receive a 6 month subscription, customers on a $80 Red plan will receive a 12 month subscription, and customers on a $100 Red plan will receive a 24 month subscription. The offer is valid as of today, but is being extended to Red customers who have already pre-ordered the Galaxy Note 4 or Galaxy Note Edge.

A Vodafone spokesperson confirmed that existing customers will be able to transfer to an eligible Red plan at no extra charge and without extending their contract.

While Red customers will have free mobile access to Spotify, data usage will still be monitored. New subscribers will still be eligible for Vodafone's Data Workout, which provides unlimited data for the first two months any 12 or 24 month contract.

“Many of our customers are huge Spotify fans and so are we,” said Stephen Smyth, General Manager of Postpaid at Vodafone. “Spotify has been making waves worldwide, transforming the way we access and experience music. We’re delighted to offer our customers an exciting way to experience music.”

Vodafone first announced its partnership with Spotify three weeks ago, although no offers were detailed at the time. Vodafone also offers a 3-month Spotify Premium subscription with every smartphone sold on a prepaid plan.
