Uber is making free ice cream deliveries on Friday

Ridesharing service Uber will again be delivering ice cream direct to customers' doors between 11am and 5pm on Friday.

Drivers in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Hobart, Brisbane, on the Gold Coast, and in several regional centres will be delivering 470mL tubs of Gelato Messina ice cream for AUD$15. A complete breakdown of eligible cities and suburbs is listed on Gelato Messina's website.

New Uber users are eligible for one free tub of ice cream if they use the code "ICECREAMOZ" when signing up in Uber's app. After opening the app between 11am and 5pm on Friday, users will be select an "Ice Cream" option if wish to request a Gelato Messina delivery.

Uber says that "demand will be high and availability will be limited". Fortunately, Gelato Messina claims to have made five times more ice cream than when the promotion was run last year. Rather than offering a range of flavours, Gelato Messina has just one ice cream choice available this time around: hazelnut gelato with white chocolate, hazelnut fudge, milk chocolate chips, and cream filed wafers.

New customers using the Uber app for the first time may incur a AUD$1 verification charge upon signing up, to ensure the account is real.
