Two new midrange Sony smartphones Australia bound: Xperia M5 and Xperia C5 Ultra

Sony this week launched two new midrange smartphones in Australia: the Xperia M5 (pictured above) and the Xperia C5 Ultra. The Xperia M5 is available exclusively through Vodafone starting at AUD$5 per month on an AUD$40 plan, while the Xperia C5 Ultra will be sold outright through Sony stores and The Good Guys for AUD$549.

The Xperia M5 is a 5-inch 1080p handset that shares much of its aesthetic with Sony's Xperia Z flagships. Other specifications include an eight-core MediaTek Helio processor, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage, and a 2,600mAh battery said to last two days. It's front-facing camera is 13MP, while the rear-shooter measures in at 21.5MP.

As with Sony's flagship family, the Xperia M5 is rated IP68 for water resistance.
