Twitter announced today the tablet-optimised version of its app for Android. The new app features a new landscape UI that shows tweets, conversations, trends and interesting accounts in a way better suited for tablets.

According to the official announcement on the company’s blog, users will be able to see tweets, photos, videos and article previews with a single tap and a second tap will allow users to dive deeper to see photos, play videos or read links from the web in full screen mode.

Unfortunately, the app is only available for Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 users at the moment. Although Twitter adds that the app will be compatible with other devices in the future, possibly before the end of the year.

As for Galaxy Note 10.1 owners, the Twitter app will be able to utilise Samsung’s Multi Window feature allowing users to use Twitter alongside different apps in a single screen. There’s also a widget that displays region-specific news as well as an image editor that lets users draw over images that they will post on Twitter.
