Last week, speculations about Twitter’s new music app emerged after its announcement that it has acquired “We Are Hunted” a music tracker on Twitter that keeps tabs on the most popular songs in the social networking site. According to previous reports, Twitter may launch its own music service during the weekend.

Now that the weekend has already passed it’s evident that the music service is nowhere near being available to consumers. However, it’s good to note that this news wasn’t a complete lie and that bits and pieces of it hold some truth.

For starters, the Twitter music service is real. Last week, the social networking site put up a website (music.twitter.com) and features an invite-only message at the centre of the creen which was later on changed to “Coming Soon” which gives us a hint that Twitter Music is indeed real and is imminently launching.

Moreover, tweets from a few “influencers” such as American celebrity Ryan Seacrest and tweets from We are Hunted’s founder Stephen Phillips were sighted in an app called “Trending Music Web”. At present, Twitter Music’s website is completely useless and any attempt to sign in will only ask the user to authorize the “Trending Music Web” app after which he/she will be automatically redirected to the homepage (music.twitter.com).
