Riding on the recent launch of the Windows 8 OS, Trend Micro has turned up with three new security apps compatible with the new operating system.

The security app trio includes a tablet-optimized Web browser featuring built-in security that aligns with pre-installed security mechanisms enabled in Windows 8. This app is called SafeGuard and also provides a safe browsing experience for users surfing search and social networking sites on the new OS.

The second app is the Go Everywhere app, aimed at protecting Windows 8 tablet PCs from loss or theft. As with many anti-theft applications, the app touts geo-location capabilities, which allow users to track down lost or stolen devices using Google maps or alarms.

Lastly, Trend Micro will also release DirectPass app, offering users password protection and management across both environments. Key features include the encryption of saved passwords, as well as in-the-cloud synchronization across multiple devices.

The Toko-based firm also announced enhancements to its Titanium family of products. The new features include a new privacy scanner for Facebook, allowing users to control who sees what on their profiles.

Other features include expanded social networking protections aimed at identifying malicious links on major sites and Titanium SafeSync which gives users the ability to safely sync and store photos, music, videos and other imported files.
