The new Moto E could potentially be the best budget smartphone yet

Motorola today announced the 2015 edition of its budget Moto E smartphone. While the handset is aesthetically similar to last year's model, Motorola has upped the screen size to 4.5-inches (with a 540 x 960 pixel resolution), boasted the processor speed and added 4G capabilities.

The Lollipop-based Moto E features a quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of expandable storage, a 2390 mAh battery, a 5 megapixel shooter and a VGA resolution front-facing camera.

Motorola confirmed that the Moto E will be available in Australia and New Zealand in coming months, but did not disclose pricing. The 4G Moto E retails for USD$149, which converts to approximately AUD$189.
