The iPhone has landed

If you’ve never queued for concert tickets, then you may be scratching your head at the notion of 1000s of people queuing up for a telephone… Yet that is exactly what people all over the globe did last night when the Apple iPhone was launched. Last night more than a 1000 people had queued up outside Optus’ Hunter St store in the hopes of being amongst the first in the worlds to get their hands on an iPhone when the device went on sale at midnight.

First in line was Brett Howell, who’d taken the afternoon off work to join the queue. Arriving at 1:15pm he was amazed to find himself first in line.

“I’m not a technical geek at all. The fact that I’m at the front of the queue surprises me. I thought there’d be geekier people waiting.”

So far the verdict for the new device has been positive.
