In terms of hardware, the HERO4 Session boasts a 170 degree lens capable of recording 1440p video (2560×1440) at 30 frames per second (fps), 1080p video at 60 fps and 720p at 100 fps. On the still photography side, the HERO4 Session is able to shoot eight megapixel stills at up to 10 fps. The HERO4 Session utilises a dual microphone system that dynamically adjusts to cut out noise from wind and water.
The HERO4 Session is waterproof up to 10 metres out of the box, and doesn't require any additional housing.
In shrinking the HERO4 Session down to its diminutive size, a removable battery has been omitted. The integrated battery is capable of recording 1080p footage for up to two hours at a time, provided wireless connectivity has been disabled.
The HERO4 Session package includes two frames; a standard GoPro frame and a new low profile frame that allows the camera to get closer to the surface it's mounted on. Both of these use the standard GoPro mount are compatible with all existing accessories.
The HERO4 Session will be available from July 12 and will retail for AUD$579.95.
