Telstra TV available from October 27

The Roku-powered Telstra TV set-top box will be available to Telstra customers from October 27, retailing for AUD$109. Subscribers connecting or recontracting to a Telstra Broadband "Large" or "Extra Large" bundle will receive one as part of their plan.

Notably, customers who purchase or receive a Telstra TV before December 25 will receive a bonus three month subscription to Stan, a bonus three month subscription to Presto, and an AUD$15 BigPond movie voucher. This equates to approximately AUD$90 of value.

The Telstra TV is based on the Roku 2 set-top box, and will launch with 15 video apps. These include a mix of streaming services, catch-up apps, and pay-per-view options. At launch, Telstra TV will have support for Netflix, Presto, SBS on Demand, Plus7, 9Jumpin, BigPond Movies, Wall Street Journal Video and YouTube. Stan's Telstra TV app will be available in November.

Unlike the newly announced Roku 4, Telstra TV is not capable of Ultra High Definition / 4K output.

Telstra TV will replace T-Box in Telstra's home entertainment line-up, but the company says it will continue to support the older box.

Telstra TV is only available to Telstra Broadband customers.
