Sydney’s first gaming bar opens tomorrow

Sydney's first gaming bar, Spawn Point, will open its doors at 4:30pm tomorrow. Described as a "small bar built by those who play to play games", Spawn Point is a new venue in Sydney's CBD fitted out with a plethora of gaming consoles, both old and new.  The bar's current console mix includes a Nintendo Entertainment System, Sega MegaDrive II, PlayStation 2, Xbox 360, GameCube and more.

Spawn Point has a maximum capacity of 60 patrons. Due to restrictions around queuing, Spawn Point will be taking mobile numbers and sending an SMS once room is available.

While Brisbane and Melbourne have both been graced by gaming bars, Sydney has been devoid of venues that combine videogames with alcohol. Australia's first gaming bar, Mana Bar, was opened in March 2010.

Spawn Point is located in the basement of 199 Clarence St, Sydney. The venue's regular trading hours are as follows:

Tuesday – Wednesday: 4:00 pm – 10:00 pm
Thursday – Saturday: 4:00 pm – 12:00 am
