Stan to go unmetered on Optus from April

Optus home broadband customers will be able to stream content via local service Stan without eating into their download quota from this April, according to an announcement made this morning. As part of the promotion, Optus is offering new customers who sign up to eligible home broadband bundles on a 24 month contract a three-month free trial of Stan.

Stan bonus subscriptions will be available until April 30.

Previously, Optus has offered new customers a six-month free trial of Netflix, and still offers unmetered Netflix usage to its home broadband subscribers. Once April rolls around, it will continue to offer unmetered Netflix in addition to Stan.

However, with the exception of Optus' AUD$70 per month "Basic Bundle", all of its current home broadband plans now include unlimited data.

Coinciding with the news, Stan announced the availability of its app for Fetch TV set-top boxes. Optus-branded Fetch TV units are bundled with the majority of the telco's home broadband bundles.
