Stan coming to smart TVs and consoles before the end of 2015

Local streaming service Stan will have its first smart TV and console apps available before the end of 2015, the company today announced.

While the new Stan app will launch across a number of yet to be confirmed platforms, Stan CEO Mike Sneesby said that interface will be the same across every single TV and console a subscriber accesses it on. Sneesby also highlighted the app's speed and usability, saying it was crucial for SVOD provider to bring a compelling option to the local market.

"We all know that if you bring shit to the market it will stick," said Sneesby, "[Stan's new apps] are consistent with the international offering."

Stan did not confirm which TVs and consoles the app would be coming to, but a production version of the application was running on both a PlayStation 4 and a recent Samsung UHD TV at a briefing held for local media. The company did however say that more devices than just the ones on display will receive the app.

Stan has yet confirm a specific time-frame for the availability of its apps.

Sneesby also announced that Stan has racked up over 300,000 paying subscribers since its local launch. 75% of users who register for a 30 day free trial are said to convert to paying customers.

In terms of other numbers, Stan has secured 20 exclusives premieres in Australia, and more than 20 deals with studios and distributors. 11 of these deals include exclusive content.
