Sony's 2016 family all also run Google's Android TV operating system. In addition to giving users access to apps, music, and movies through the Google Play store, this also enables the TVs to serve as a Chromecast. Users are able to cast directly to Sony's new TVs without the need for a separate dongle.
While Sony's new TVs don't share the same design, they're built with a similar design philosophy in mind. Sony says it wanted to simplify its TVs, and have them "fit into a living space, rather than take over it". This philosophy has resulted in integrated cable management systems, longer power cables, and easier wall mounting options.
