Sony’s Xperia Twitter account has been buzzing with clues about the company’s plans on possibly releasing a new smartwatch.
Tweets from the said account have attached hash tags such as #itstime and #MAE13 which suggests that the company may be planning to unveil the smartwatch at this year’s Mobile Asia Expo in Shanghai, China. Other tweets even include an infographic that claims 1 in 3 smartphone users want a smartwatch or that wearables are in the company’s DNA, using the classic Walkman as an example.

All these clues either point to a refreshed version of the company’s previous smartwatch or to Sony’s new Open SmartWatch project, which is a new initiative that will allow advanced developers to create and flash alternative firmware on the current smartwatch.
At the moment, those are the only things that we were able to get from Sony’s tweets but we’ll update everyone once additional information pushes through or when the company makes the official announcement in the coming days.
