If you’re a big fan of powerful cameras on smartphones but don’t really dig the bulky form factor of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom or the Nokia Lumia 1020, a rumoured Sony accessory might be the answer for your prayers.

According to SonyAlphaRumors.com, Sony is reportedly preparing to announce two lens cameras that attach to existing smartphone or tablet. The devices will feature a sensor, processor, zoom lens and an SD card slot. The device will connect to other smart devices via Wi-Fi and will use the smartphone or tablet to control the basic functions of the lens such as adjusting framing and transmitting images.

The two lens will bear the QX10 and QX100 model name respectively. The DSC-QX100 will have the same 1-inch sensor used in the RX100 Mark II camera while the DSC-QX10 will have a larger 10x focal range and a 1/2.3-inch 18MP sensor.

Sony has yet to disclose pricing and availability information yet, but we’re expecting an announcement pretty soon given that the company’s IFA press conference is coming next month.
