Sony Australia has confirmed that it will not be offering a content delivery system for Ultra HD content.

Sony Australia has confirmed that it will not be offering a content delivery system for Ultra HD content.
Sony has previously announced "the world's first 4K Ultra HD delivery solution, complete with preloaded, native 4K entertainment" on its 84-inch KD-84X9000 Ultra HD TV. The promise was for "full-length feature Hollywood productions, and available exclusively to purchasers of Sony's 84-inch 4K Ultra HD TV".
However, as it turns out this will be a US-only offer. "At this stage, this is a local US initiative with Sony Pictures Entertainment," says Sony.
So if you were considering picking up one of those 84-inch KD-84X9005 Ultra HD televisions that costs a whipping AU$25,000, there’s that question around what you could actually watch on it.
Sony did not say an Australian launch isn’t on the books at all though, so there may be a chance in the future.
