Sony has just sent out invites for its July 4 event which has wound up the rumour mills once again. Because although the invites did not mention anything in particular, it’s the images in it that gave hints to what Sony might announce during the event.

The image on the invite shows the side profile of what seems to be a massive smartphone similar in design to the Xperia Z while a stylus is located at the bottom. Moreover, the image on the invite corresponds to earlier reports about a 6.44-inch phablet rumoured to be the Jelly Bean-powered Xperia Z Ultra (codenamed Togari).

According to Sony-dedicated community website, XperiaBlog, the Xperia Z Ultra will also sport Triluminous technology with X-Reality for mobile. Sony is also reportedly working with Sweedish company Neonde to put the new Multisensing touch technology that uses optical infrared light to enable the phablet to take input from a stylus, pencils or any other tool.

Other information about the device include an 8-MP Exmor camera sensor, a 2.2-MP front-facing camera, IP57/IP58 certification, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chip with Adreno 330 GPU and a 2.3GHz quad-core processor.
