Sharp is a busy busy bee. Despite doing double time to help Apple churn out enough iPhone 5’s, the company has managed to find time to work on a 5-inch full-HD resolution LCD screen.

The company is looking to achieve the same number of pixels in a smartphone-size screen as there are in a full-HD LCD TV with the use of new CG-Silicon technology.

The new screens will come 1.3 times a standard LCD screen at 443 PPI. For comparison, the iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S3 have 326 PPI and 306 PPI respectively.

"By providing ultra-detailed LCD panels to support the growing worldwide demand for smartphones, Sharp will contribute to smartphones with increasingly higher quality images," said Sharp.

Production kicked-off in September and the company is looking to move into full-scale production in October. It also intends to showcase the new screens for the first time at CEATEC Japan 2012, starting on Oct. 2.
