Scientists at MIT have announced a breakthrough new technology that will allow users to turn any surface into a computer touch screen.

Scientists at MIT have announced a breakthrough new technology that will allow users to turn any surface into a computer touch screen.

The device has been dubbed ‘Wear Ur World’ and works by combining a web camera, miniature projector and internet-connected smartphone into a device that can be worn like jewellery.
Sensors respond to hand movements and users can take photos or browse the internet by utilising a combination of hand gestures…

How very Minority Report

MIT researcher Patty Maes commented:

“You can use this gadget to interact with data on the internet just by selecting which information you want from a screen of options Other than letting you live out your fantasy of looking as cool as Tom Cruise in Minority Report, it can really let you connect as a sixth sense device with whatever is in front of you.”

MIT plans to release a consumer version of the device in 2011.
