SanDisk’s new MP3 player comes bundled with 1000 songs… For (US$99) that sounds like bargain indeed…

The Sansa SlotRadio player with a SlotRadio (microSD) card preloaded with 1,000 MP3 songs in multiple genres is targeted at busy consumers who don’t have the time to download songs and transfer them to their MP3player.

The company will also offer 1000-song cards in specific genres at a retail price of $39.95.

Unfortunately for those that like to share their music amongst a number of devices, the songs are locked to the card and can’t be played on any other device.

The Slot Radio player is expected in US stores by March (no release date as yet for Aussie music fans).

And lest you think you might be stuck with a 1000 so-so songs – SanDisk assures that the tracks are all chosen from Billboard magazine’s lists of top-charted songs.

“SlotRadio’s unprecedented simplicity will have even the most time-pressed music fans enjoying a huge range of music in no time,” said senior VP/GM Daniel Schreiber. “1,000 hand-picked songs in your pocket with zero downloads makes enjoying digital music easier than ever.”

Last year, SanDisk teamed with the four largest music companies to launch 1GB microSD cards with preloaded songs at a suggested $14.99. The cards, called slotMusic cards, are sold with unrestricted MP3-format music playable on any MP3 player, including cell phones, that play MP3 music.
