Samsung is rumoured to be looking into the hot 7-inch tablet market right now and may be considering its own entry- taking its already huge Galaxy Note even bigger!

A new DLNA certification for a Samsung device called the Samsung GT-N5100 has been found and it indicates that the device “has been sized between” seven and nine inches.

The device is believed to be part of the Note series because all previous Note products start with GT-N in their certifications just as the new Samsung product does. The disclosed approval docs don’t list the size of the gadget’s screen, but all rumours point towards that being less than 9”. Also, Samsung has so far released Galaxy Note models in the 5- and 10-inch ranges, so releasing one in the 7-inch range seems very likely.

It is unclear if the display will measure 7 or 7.7-inches in diagonal, but it does seem likely that the panel will be HD and that under the hood there’ll be a quad-core 1.6 GHz Exynos 4412 processor.

No other specs or features are known at the moment. However, the tablet has appeared in DLNA certification documents with two identities, under the GT-N5100 and GT-N5110 codenames, meaning the device may come in at least two different models, probably one with both Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity options.

If the Note tab proves to be real, it will most likely compete with the Apple iPad Mini and will be in that price range as well.
