Samsung Take On Kindle

Samsung is releasing its version of the e-reader to take on Amazon’s Kindle

Initially called Papyrus, Samsung’s SNE-50K e-book reader will only be available in South Korea, but it will probably be rolled out throughout the rest of the world early next year.

Although very popular in the US with the Kindle, E-books have yet to take off worldwide, but most of the big CE companies are producing them hoping they will be as popular worldwide as they are Stateside.

Features of the SNE-50K include a 5-inch screen, 512MB of memory, and it will allow people to read text files, PDFs and Microsoft Office documents.

Samsung says it will be working on a version of the unit for the rest of the world, which it says it will unveil at CES 2010.
