Samsung Rolls Out Home Theatre Offerings
- Soundbar with 3D sound technology
- One unit offers vacuum tube technology
- Smart Volume feature prevents noise spikes
Samsung has introduced a new range of home theatre systems. One (the HT-E6750W) features vacuum tube amplifier technology, which combines both vacuum tubes and a digital amplifier into one unit.
Then there’s the company’s wireless 3D Blu-ray Home Theatre System – a home theatre hub that helps deliver surround sound and full HD 1080p video (model HT-E5550W).
Then there is Samsung’s Surround Sound Bar with 3D Depth Sound – a transformable sound bar speaker system that creates virtual surround sound with intelligent audio technologies (model HW-E551).
Both the HT-E6750W and HT-E5550W Home Theatre Systems offer built-in wifi for easy access to a world of web-connected entertainment via a full web browser, as well as many apps from leading brands such as BigPond Movies and TV, AFL, YouTube and Samsung Music Hub,via compatible Samsung Smart devices. Users can also choose and manage their social networks via YouTube, Skype, Facebook or Twitter.
Users are able to up-convert content from DVDs, streaming videos or connected media devices, such as portable players and cameras to full HD 1080p on a compatible full HD screen. Each home theatre system employs a Samsung-developed system-on-a-chip (SoC), which has image quality enhancement algorithms, Samsung’s video processor and scaler, and various high definition codecs.
The HT-E6750W has a 1,330 Watt 7.1-channel system. Its tower speakers incorporate the front height speakers, and there are also swivel speakers on the towers that can turn upwards so the sound will vertically cascade down on the listener. The rear satellite speakers are wireless to offer flexibility in placement and eliminate the need to hide another set of wires.
The glass fibre cones in the speakers are said to help improve sound quality and minimise distortion. This hybrid vacuum tube amplifier and the towers with front height speakers and wireless rear speakers create an all-in-one solution.
This system has a midnight black, high gloss finish. It consists of eight speakers: a wide center channel speaker, a subwoofer, four tower speakers that include embedded height channel speakers, and two surround speakers.
Then there is the HT-E25550W 3D Blu-ray Home Theatre System, which features Samsung’s 3D Sound technology that syncs the audio track of 3D content to match 3D motion on the screen and adds vertical 3D sound effects for an immersive visual and audio experience. With two HDMI 1.4a inputs, the HT-E5550W allows users to simply connect to a compatible set-top box and a game console.
Finally there is the HW-E551 Surround Sound Bar with 3D Depth Sound – users can place the sound bar horizontally below their TV or split the sound bar into two vertical speakers. By attaching each speaker to an included base, the soundbar can also morph into a traditional looking Samsung 2.1-channel system with half-tall speakers.
In addition, the HW-E551 offers Smart Volume, an active audio monitoring system that helps prevent spikes in volume when TV channels or radio stations are changed. It comes with six different settings – Movie, Game, Drama, Music, News and Sports. Samsung’s 3D Depth sound technology also synchronises the audio to 3D images for some sense of depth and immersion.
It is equipped with two HDMI inputs and one HDMI output so users can connect to compatible Blu-ray players, set-top boxes and gaming consoles. Support for HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC) puts audio data into the video connection and minimises the need for separate audio cables. The HW-E551 is Bluetooth-enabled, providing wireless playback of audio files from other compatible devices. A USB port provides another connectivity option.
