Samsung chief executive Shin Jong-kyun has said that the next iteration of its Galaxy S series of smartphones will match the processor specs of the latest iPhones, according to an article in the Korea Times.

Although Jong-kyun says that consumers shouldn’t expect anything in the near future, Samsung says any new phone will have a 64-bit processor chip, which will match the A7 chip that was announced in the iPhone 5S when it was released last week.

Another unnamed Samsung Executive said he wasn’t worried about Apple eating into its market share in the lucrative Chinese market where Android phones are outselling iPhones. Currently pundits believe that even the cheaper 5c iPhone will be too expensive for the Chinese market and its 700 million possible subscribers.
