Samsung finally came out clean with the Galaxy S4 Zoom as the Korean manufacturer made the smartphone-camera hybrid official through a press release in London, UK.

The phone features a 16MP CMOS sensor, OIS and Xenon flash with 10x optical zoom. It also has a zoom ring that activates the quick launch and shortcut features, providing users with instant access to multiple camera modes including Auto, gallery and Smart Mode.

The S4 Zoom will have almost the same footprint as the Galaxy S4 mini but of course will be thicker due to the much larger camera module and grip. The phone will pack a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 960×540 pixels with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

The device will be able to capture 1080p videos at 30 fps (or 720p at 60fps) and will run on android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI on top. The Galaxy S4 Zoom will also sport a 2330mAh battery, 8GB of on-board memory which can be expanded via a microSD card up to 64G, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS, 3G with HSPA and even LTE connectivity.

Information on pricing is not yet available but we expect the handset to hit the shelves probably by the end of Q3 this year.
