It seems TVs have gone on a diet in the last 12 months – and thin is in. With consumers on the hunt for the skinniest set on the market, Samsung have come to the party with an HDTV that is less than one inch thick.

So how have they managed to create a set that is so ridiculously skinny? They’ve said see ya later to the florescent cathode lamps and replaced them with tiny LEDS. The new technology, according to Samsung, produces pictures with whiter whites and deeper blacks, while using 40 percent less electricity than typical LCD TVs.

Some of the new models will also come equipped with a 240Hz refresh rate, for smoother motion and internet connections will allow users to view content directly from online services such as Flicker and Yahoo.
