Samsung has finally made the Galaxy S4 Active official through an announcement on its press website.

The Galaxy S4 Active will have a 1080p LCD display which measures 5 inches. There’s also a 1.9 GHz quad-core processor, 16GB of internal memory which can be expanded through a microSD card slot and 2GB of RAM. In terms of connectivity, the S4 Active sports an IR-port, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, NFC and of course a LTE modem.

The phone will run on Android 4.2.2 and will come with Samsung’s Air View and Air Gestures as well as the S Health fitness and WatchON IR apps.

But of course the most notable new feature of the Galaxy S4 Active is its IP67 certification for dust and water protection. With the added layer of water resistant body covering, the phone is able to capture underwater pictures with its 8MP camera. The phone even features a special Aqua mode that increases visual quality and clarity for enhanced underwater images and videos.

Moreover, the Galaxy S4 Active is also slightly larger, thicker and heavier than the original Galaxy S4.
