Reports came in last week that BlackBerry Messenger has already entered into beta stage and is nearing an official release. Today, we’ve heard that owners of Samsung Galaxy smartphones might be the first to get BBM; that is if they live in Africa.
According to a statement made by George Ferreira, VP and COO of Samsung Electronics Africa, the messaging app will be integrated into Samsung’s messaging hub and work as a complementary addition to the current set of third party messaging services that Samsung customers are currently enjoying.
As with BlackBerry phones, BBM for Android will provide access to the BBM social network, which includes BBM chats, multi-person chats and BBM Groups.
There’s no specified list yet on which Galaxy devices will receive the app but we expect that flagship Samsung devices such as the Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note II and Galaxy SIII will most probably get BBM first. According to the press release by Samsung Africa, the app will launch “Soon” and will be available both on Google Play and the Samsung App Store.
