Rovio gave a few teasers today about an update to its Star Wars-themes Angry Birds game. The new Star Wars game will launch on September across app stores worldwide.

Gamers will be introduced to new characters. Users will also be able to use Hasbro’s Telepods which allow gamers to switch roles even during the game by placing these Telepods on top of a phone’s or tablet’s camera. Rovio also plans to allow players to pick which side they want to fight for, whether for the birds of for the pigs (“Pork Side”).

Late last week, the company released a teaser image showing a small red bird wearing a racing gear similar to what Anakin Skywalker was wearing in the 1999 Star Wars prequel Episode 1: The Phantom Menace. The image bore the #July15 hashtag which led many to assume that the game will be launched today. However the specific date of the launch is scheduled on September 19.
