The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has sent out a recall for EB Games Australia Spartan-branded rechargeable batteries.

It has been discovered that some of these batteries – which are primarily used with Xbox 360 and Wii controllers – might have the two charging connections reversed. This means that if the unit short circuits while charging there is a high possibly that it might catch fire.

These batteries were sold all over Australia between June 1, 2011 and September this year. They were sold through EB Games stores and on the company’s websites.

EB Games says that anybody with Spartan rechargeable batteries are to stop using them immediately and return them to the store for a no-questioned asked refund. No receipt is necessary.
