Pebble Time Round is the world’s thinnest smartwatch

Smartwatch manufacturer Pebble today announced its first circular wearable, the Pebble Time Round. The Time Round's unveiling follows an incredible successful Kickstarter campaign for the Pebble Time and Pebble Time Steel which raised over USD$20,000,000.

The Pebble Time Round is said to be the world's thinnest and lightest smartwatch; the wearable is just 7.5mm thick. For comparison, the Apple Watch is 11.5mm thick, Samsung's Gear S2 is 11.4mm thick, and the regular Pebble Time is 9.5mm thick. The smaller form factor does however result in a smaller battery life of just two days, which is less than half of what the square Pebble Time is capable of. Pebble does however say that 15 minutes of charge will give the Time Round a full day of power.

As with its siblings, the Pebble Time Round has an always-on, colour e ink display, and runs its own proprietary operating system. Instead of a touchscreen, the wearable features four hardware buttons for navigation, and a microphone for dictating messages. The Pebble Time Round is compatible with both Android and iPhone handsets, but has slightly more functionality on Android.

The Pebble Time Round is available with a choice of either a 20mm or 14mm strap in a variety of colours. The Pebble Time Round retails for USD$249.99 (approximately AUD$356) and is initially being sold through Pebble's own online store. Pebble offers free shipping to Australia.

Orders made today will ship within six to eight weeks.
