Panasonic Projector Can Be Used For Gaming

  • Seven different projector modes
  • Built-in waveform monitor
  • Comes in at just over $3,000

Panasonic lastest LCD projector has what the company calls an advanced Light Harmonizer 3, which is said to automatically adjust the picture quality to match living room conditions .

The PT-AR100E Full High-Definition LCD Home Entertainment Projector offers 1080p (1,920 x 1,080 pixel) resolution. It employs a new, high-powered 280-watt Red-Rich Lamp and optical unit that generates 2,800 lumens of brightness; and features a 50,000:1 contrast ratio.

A built-in ambient light and color sensors adjust the white balance, gamma curve and sharpness settings to maintain bright, crisp pictures, says Panasonic

The PT-AR100E is equipped with the Dynamic Iris Pro and Pure Color Filter Pro, which help reproduce a 50,000:1 contrast ratio and colour accuracy.

The intelligent Dynamic Iris Pro adjusts the PT-AR100E optical iris, the Red-Rich Lamp and gamma curve60 times per second to produce images with accurate black levels and shadow detail. The Pure Color Filter Pro achieves a purity level of the three primary colors—red, green and blue—while displaying deeper, purer blacks, for a more natural colour appearance. In addition, it is said to show fine detail due to the proprietary Detail Clarity Processor 3 engine.

With the light output and the extended dynamic range, it comes equipped with seven different picture modes that provide good performance for different video content. They include: Sports, Game, Cinema1, Vivid Cinema, Normal, REC709 and Dynamic mode.

In Sports mode, users can play games with minimal frame delay and image tuning, claims Panasonic. While in Game mode, picture quality characteristics have been tuned to reveal more image details in the dark or over-saturated areas that are prevalent in many games. Together with the preset picture mode, the Motion Effect function ensures that the fast-moving images are crisp and clear. This new technology detects and analyses the brightness and frequency distribution data of the image.

The projector also offers additional options for enthusiast home theatre viewers, with a built-in Waveform monitor allowing the user to view waveforms on the screen and adjust settings to make sure that the full dynamic range is in use. Furthermore, the Split Adjust Mode provides a solution for those looking to adjust different picture settings on the projector.

Initial setup and installation are claimed to be quick and easy, because the 2x zoom casts a 120-inch diagonal image from as close as 3.5 metres to 7 metres from the screen. The projector’s lens shift capability enables 68 percent vertical adjustment and 26 percent horizontal adjustment.

The PT-AR100E is also equipped with two HDMI inputs (supporting x.v.Color and Deep Color), so multiple HD sources can be connected without an HDMI switcher. Automation, such as lighting and a motorised screen, is possible with the PT-AR100E because it comes equipped with two programmable 12-volt trigger terminals and Viera Link. Viera Link provides seamless operation of multiple Viera Link compatible Panasonic devices by using the PT-AR100E remote control.

The projector’s new Eco Management function reduces power consumption depending on different parameters, for example, ambient light conditions and situations when no signal is input to the projector.  Users can set an off-timer to reduce power consumption when the projector is left running. Advanced Panasonic digital circuitry intelligently determines the necessary power output of the lamp depending on the content being displayed by analysing more than 3 billion different image patterns. This advanced analysis process reduces the main power consumption by as much as 10 percent when the Dynamic Iris Pro function is operating. The PT-AR100E also has a low standby power consumption of 0.08W.
