Optus Gets On Mobile Music Download Bandwagon

Optus finally offers its customers a music download service.

MobMusic is the Optus version of downloadable music that its customers can access for a fee.

There are two options available for those who use the Optus network – unlimited music downloads or a music discovery pass.

Customers will have access to an array of artists from such music companies as Sony BMG Music Entertainment, EMI Music and Warner Music Group giving people instant access to hundreds of thousands of music tracks.

Anthony Hearne, Acting Marketing Director, Optus Consumer said, “As mobile phones become faster and smarter, our customers are demanding more choice and more tailored content. Optus has seen customers become more confident when using the mobile internet and mobile applications.

This new service is powered by OnMobile’s new multimodal technology.
• Music Discovery – gives customers five free music tracks every week that they can listen
to throughout the week. At the end of each week, these five free tracks are replaced by
another five free tracks and so on. This gives customers the opportunity to discover new
music tracks, all without paying any subscription or download fees.

• Unlimited Music Downloads – for $3.75 per week customers can subscribe to MobMusic
and receive unlimited downloads† and download as much music as their phone can handle.
Customers can search by artist, song or album for their favourite music tracks. Customers
can then listen to these tracks on their mobile whenever they like.
