Optus follows suit with 20GB smartphone plan

Optus has added a post-paid phone plan with a monthly data allowance of 20GB to its repertoire, following a similar announcement from Vodafone on Monday morning.

Optus' new AUD$135 per month plan boasts 16GB of data, unlimited talk, unlimited text, and 500 international minutes. Customers who sign up before January 4 of next year will receive a bonus 4GB of data, taking their total to 20GB.

Vodafone's new plan operates in a similar manner, but customers have a base allowance of 15GB with a 5GB bonus.

Optus has also introduced a new AUD$80 per month SIM only plan with 15GB of data. The plan is an online exclusive, and only available until October 5. As part of the offer, Optus' has also introduced an AUD$50 per month SIM only plan with 8GB of data, and increased data allowances on its AUD$45 and AUD$30 SIM only plans to 4GB and 1GB respectively.

All SIM only plans include international calls.
