OPPO R7s now available in Australia

Chinese smartphone manufacturer OPPO today launched its R7s handset in Australia, priced at AUD$529.

The 5.5-inch OPPO R7s is the middle child in the company's R7 family, sitting squarely between the 5-inch R7 and the 6-inch R7 Plus. While other specifications have been bumped to 2016 standards, the device shares a metal unibody design with its siblings.

Hardware specifications include a 5.5-inch 1080p display, an eight-core Snapdragon 615 processor, 32GB of expandable storage, 4GB of RAM, and a 13MP rear-facing camera.

The OPPO R7s ships with a heavily customised version of Android Lollipop dubbed ColorOS. The company has however been working on an almost unmodified version of Android for its various phones, referred to as Project Spectrum.

At present, Project Spectrum is only available for the Find 7, but OPPO has confirmed that it will come to other devices including the R7s. OPPO R7s owners can expect Project Spectrum to be released in the first part of this year.

The OPPO R7s is available through OPPO's online store, and via Dick Smith.
