The latest version of Norton’s Internet Security Suite is the best Norton product I’ve ever used. My favourite feature was the silent mode that makes Norton sit in the background while you play games or watch movies.

It doesn’t interrupt you while you’re playing, and it doesn’t use much memory so you don’t get lagged when you’re about to frag. It’s the most gamer friendly anti-virus I’ve ever come across, so thank you SGL and thank you Symantec.

Norton 2009 impressed me…

Thanks to Symantec sponsoring SGL, I had the chance to pick up a free copy of Norton Internet Security Suite 2009 – as long as I wrote a review of it for them.

Norton 2009 impressed me, mostly because the Norton name is synonymous with a cumbersome interface, a footprint that slows your system to a crawl and a painful un-install procedure.

Norton 2009 had none of these, and best of all, it comes with a ‘silent mode’. Silent mode is designed to make Norton hide in the background while you play games or use other full-screen applications. It won’t update either while you’re playing, waiting until your computer’s idle before it starts taking up your CPU.

When I first ran a scan, it picked up several viruses that Avast! failed to pick up as well, which surprised me. So I’ve got pretty much everything I could want from an anti-virus. Thanks Symantec.
