Alas – any Aussie iPhone fans wanting to get their hands on an unlocked iPhone will have to wait, as Apple Australia have announced they have no plans to follow the Hong Kong model.

The iPhone was initially available in Hong Kong through Hutchison Telecoms – customers had to sign up to a two year contract to receive the phone.

Now Hong Kong locals can get their paws on a new 8GB iPhone for $HK5400 ($875) or the 16GB for $HK6200. ($1010).
