Mint Technology, an Australian company that specialises in the development and management of consumer technology products and services has created the iStyle PowerPill adaptor for the iPad that will allow users to charge their device using the standard USB port found on PCs, laptops and older Mac models.

The usual problem with charging an iPad with the USB port found in common PCs is that the port can only supply 2.5W to the device when the iPad was designed to charge from the 10W wall adaptor it comes bundled with. What the iStyle PowerPill does is to generate enough current to enable the PC to charge the device. Moreover, due to the additional power, the PowerPill can also offer rapid charge to allow a device to recharge up to four times faster than conventional USB charging.

The PowerPill can also be used with other devices such as iPhones, Samsung Galaxy Smart Phones and tablets. The device has 3 modes which can be identified using the built-in LED indicator light. A blue LED light is for iPad, iPhone and most USB charging devices while a red light means it’s for Samsung Galaxy Tablets.

The iStyle PowerPill is now available at Harvey Norman and GoodGuys for $29.95.
