Nikon today introduced its newest compact camera system meant for more style conscious consumers who appreciate bright coloured designs without compromising on performance.

The S2 sports a 14.2MP CMOS sensor with no low-pass filter for improved detail resolution, which is complemented by an Expeed 4A processing engine and an ISO range of 200-12800. Just like other members of the Nikon 1 range, the S2 boasts very fast shooting speeds at 20fps with continuous autofocus and up to 60fps with fixed focus.

This fast focusing speeds is attributable to the 135 autofocus points (73 of which are phase-detection points) that comprise the S2’s hybrid AF system.

The camera also has an F-button that gives users instant access to the feature menu for quick changes and sports an easy to use and very intuitive user interface. Nikon is also marketing the S2 as the interchangeable lens camera that’s best for Instagram users with several studio-quality filters.

The Nikon 1 S2 also packs a 460k-dot LCD screen and will be bundled with an 11-27.5 f/3.5-5.6 lens and will be available from June for $449.95.
