Netgear announces first Nighthawk modem router combo
Netgear today announced its first Nighthawk-branded modem router combo, the Netgear Nighthawk D7000. While the Nighthawk line has typically featured standalone high-performance routers or range-extenders, the D7000 is the first to also include a modem.
"[The D7000] carries the Nighthawk name as our family of Nighthawk products meet the highest level of performance and feature requirements," said Netgear ANZ's Managing Director Brad Little.
The new router's embedded modem supports both the ADSL and VDSL standards. VDSL is the broadband technology being utilised by NBN to connect customers to fibre in its fibre-to-the-node rollout, and offers up to four times the speeds of a standard ADSL connection.
In addition, the D7000 has a 2.4GHz wireless band rated for 600Mbps per second, a 5GHz band rated for 1300Mbps, three external antennas for beamforming, four gigabit Ethernet ports and two USB 3.0 ports.
Netgear's Nighthawk D7000 (also known as the Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 WiFi VDSL / ADSL Modem Router) will be available from today and will retail for AUD$429.
