Motorola yesterday confirmed that it will be launching its Moto Maker phone customisation service in Australia. Moto Maker allows users to design a personalised version of the company's flagship, the Moto X, customising details such as the back plate, colour and trim.

When using the Moto Maker, users can kit out their Moto X with a plastic, leather or bamboo back (available in various colours), black or white front, and one of ten coloured metallic accents. Users also have the option of engraving the back, the choice of 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of internal non-expandable storage, and the ability to pick a wallpaper before they even turn the device on.

After ordering, customers will have to wait as long as two weeks to receive their customised phone.

While the Moto Maker service launched alongside the first generation Moto X in 2013 in the United States, it has been off limits for Australians to date. Motorola has yet to confirm when the service will launch locally.

Internationally, Moto Maker now also allows users to personalise the Moto 360 smartwatch, but it is not clear if this functionality will be available in Australia.
